blueWIRE Technologies is looking for a Network Consultant to design, implement, document and maintain business client computer and network systems in a fast paced and self-driven environment. The successful candidate will responsible for:
- Providing on-site and phone support to clients.
- Diagnosing and repairing faulty computer and network systems.
- Designing computer and network solutions for a wide variety of business organizations.
- Providing technical consultation and training to clients in one on one or classroom environments.
- Creating technical documentation and network plans for a non-technical audience.
This job requires occasional air travel to remote client locations on and off the road system and after-hours availability in the event of a client emergency.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: This is a consulting position that requires a high degree of technical expertise, the ability to problem solve in unfamiliar environments, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The following is a list of required skills for this position:
- An expert understanding of Microsoft Windows (2000, XP, Server 2000/2003, Small Business Server 2000/2003) networks including Active Directory and Exchange.
An intermediate understanding of network packet flow, Cisco networking hardware, backup solutions, firewalls, and RAID.
- A basic familiarity with Unix/Linux and Macintosh.
- The ability to effectively explain complex technical information to non-technical individuals both verbally and in writing.
- The ability to organize, plan, and implement complex and multi-faceted technical projects.
- The imagination and flexibility to customize technical solutions based on the stated needs of individual clients.
- The wherewithal to maintain composure in a wide array of work environments while troubleshooting potentially unfamiliar computer systems.
- The maturity to manage and complete assignments and projects independently with little direct supervision.
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use hand held power tools.
Education and Training: Either a 4-year college degree in a computer related field and one or more years of system administration experience or a graduate degree in any discipline plus one or more years of system administration experience. Certifications (Cisco, Microsoft, etc.) are a plus but are not required.
Salary: Pay is commensurate with experience.
